Summer ends

Standard

Everyone talks about time, and everyone agrees in one thing: “Time goes by so fast”. My last post was just 4 months ago, I totally failed my goal of posting every month.
Fortunately, I’ve been very busy, in this new town I’ve got the chance to start teaching English again, the City Hall lend me the place, and 24 students of various ages came to class this summer.
I’ve also been fortunate to receive family visits, because of the distance is not so easy for them to come more often, so we really value every moment of it. 🙂
In addition to those advertures, I’m still on my way to standardize my academic life, since one moves from one city to another its a bit chaotic, now the differences are enormous between two continents, so I must work very hard to validate all my entire academic life, always studying something and doing exams, after 7 years I’m not done yet, but someday I’ll get it.
The most important thing is to make a balance between family, professional life and set priorities, and always remember to thank the people who support and encourage me to keep on going, even on days I want to quit.:D

For the moment feeling blessed and doing everything on my power to be happy.

TED Blog

Favorite_appsAt our small, fast-moving nonprofit company, everyone does a couple of jobs — and productivity apps help us manage roles that shift between coding, writing/designing and running a full-scale conference twice a year. We asked the TED staff what apps they can’t live without. And beyond the classics—Instagram, Google Maps, Spotify, Uber, Seamless—we found some great apps that might help you too. (A star denotes that the app is free, or at least has a free version.)

For random life stuff…

Dark Sky
A weather app with startling accuracy, its interface tells you things like: “Light rain starting in 22 minutes.” It also shows you beautiful weather maps that let you play local-news weather expert. “It’s like a wizard,” says our CTO, Gavin Hall. “If this app were available in the 1600s, it would have been burned at the stake for witchcraft.”

The Thesis Whisperer

Screen Shot 2013-11-10 at 4.33.13 PMThe last time I posted, I mentioned in passing that I am the proud dad of a toddler (and, by the time this goes out, a new baby too!). As any parent will tell you, you learn as much from your children as they learn from you.

It just so happens that in the past few months my son has taught me a lot about doing a PhD.

He is exploring the world and learning to walk. I just wish I had learned it all sooner! Here is my shortlist…

Everlasting

Standard

During the ups and downs in life, people come and go, some of them stay, and during that time we evolve and change.
Saying goodbye always hurts, after any experience bad or good. Sometimes is healthy to say goodbye to some people. It’s always hard to be strong and not to turn back.
Giving several opportunities to someone it’s not that you’re weak is just that you don’t want to loose hope in someone or something.
Like coming back to school, after several years Os studying certain subjects, starting from scratch again is not easy. Thanks to life, people are showing me support, which we all need.
We all need people, our people, just saying…

Today you, Tomorrow me

No gain!

Standard

No pain, no gain!

Just another quote I love! And totally true.
One of my New Years resolution is feel the pain at the gym. During the past I was lazy, and thanks to the universe I got a gym partner. This partner doesn’t let me stay at home, and at least 4 days a week we’ll come.

This is easy to say at my 4th day on the track, but screaming to the world my plan may help!

Keep on moving 😉
